Tap Into Tech Host with Google Ghana
On December 9th, 2023, I had the incredible honor of hosting the Black Girls in Tech x Because She Can: “Tap Into Tech” event — an empowering day of knowledge-sharing, community-building, and inspiration, held in collaboration with Google in Accra, Ghana. 🇬🇭✨
This event marked a powerful moment in our mission to amplify the voices of Black women in technology, and to create access, opportunity, and visibility in spaces where we’ve historically been underrepresented. From engaging panel discussions led by dynamic thought leaders, to interactive workshops designed to upskill and energize, every session was crafted with intention — to equip, connect, and uplift.
What struck me most throughout the day was the unshakable passion, drive, and resilience of the women I had the privilege to meet. Their stories — of perseverance, creativity, and innovation — were a reminder that despite systemic challenges, women in Africa and across the diaspora are not just entering the tech space; we are transforming it.
These women are founders, engineers, designers, students, and dreamers — all united by a shared commitment to creating impact through technology. The connections formed, the knowledge exchanged, and the confidence ignited will undoubtedly ripple far beyond this single event.
A massive thank you to Google for being a key partner in bringing this vision to life. Your generous support, technical insights, and commitment to inclusion added immense value and helped create a world-class experience for all in attendance.
Events like “Tap Into Tech” are more than just moments — they are movements. They remind us of the power of representation, the importance of community, and the need to continue investing in women in tech — not just in words, but in action.
Let’s keep this momentum going. Let’s continue building spaces where women are seen, heard, and empowered to lead. Let’s tap into our potential, elevate one another, and shape the future of tech — together.
To everyone who attended, supported, and contributed — thank you. The future is bright, and we’re just getting started.
