Just Eat HQ London - Panel Talk

On October 16th, 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to speak at the Just Eat Takeaway.com office in London, as part of a dynamic and thought-provoking panel dedicated to championing Black talent within the tech industry. This event brought together individuals and organizations who are truly committed to advancing equity, representation, and inclusion in the sector — and it was an honor to be part of that conversation.

The panel served as an open and honest forum where we discussed the unique and often overlooked challenges faced by Black professionals throughout their tech careers. From navigating entry-level roles to breaking through to leadership positions, we explored the visible and invisible barriers that many still encounter — including limited access to mentorship and professional networks, underrepresentation in senior positions, and the persistence of unconscious bias within workplace culture.

What made this event particularly impactful was the passion and sincerity of everyone in the room — from my fellow panelists to the engaged audience who asked thoughtful questions and shared their own insights. It was a privilege to contribute to a discussion that not only acknowledged these challenges but also focused on tangible strategies to drive systemic change.

I also had the chance to highlight the ongoing work we do at Black Girls in Tech (BGiT) — a community and platform dedicated to empowering Black women to thrive in tech by offering mentorship, learning opportunities, and a supportive network. It’s always meaningful to raise awareness about our mission and to connect with others who are just as passionate about inclusion and progress.
