Beauty Pie Speaker
On September 29th, 2023, I had the incredible honor of being invited to speak at Beauty Pie, where I had the opportunity to address a diverse and engaged audience on the critical topics of diversity and inclusion within the tech industry. It was an experience that I will cherish, as it allowed me to share not only my professional insights but also my personal journey navigating the tech world as a Black woman.
During the engagement, I highlighted the unique challenges and opportunities we face in creating a truly inclusive tech ecosystem. From my own experiences, I spoke about the obstacles I’ve encountered, the lessons I’ve learned, and the power of resilience in overcoming barriers. Diversity and inclusion are not just buzzwords — they are essential to the long-term success and innovation of the industry. I was honored to share these perspectives, especially as we continue to push for systemic change within the tech sector.
One of the most important aspects of my talk was shedding light on the incredible work we’re doing at Black Girls in Tech, an initiative that is incredibly close to my heart. At Black Girls in Tech, our mission is to empower, support, and amplify the voices of Black women in technology. We focus on breaking down barriers, fostering community, and providing the resources and mentorship that allow Black women to thrive in their tech careers. It’s not just about providing opportunities; it’s about ensuring that those opportunities are accessible, sustainable, and built on a foundation of support and empowerment.
What makes the work we do at Black Girls in Tech so rewarding is the impact we’re able to have on individuals who, historically, may not have seen themselves reflected in the industry. By helping women access the resources they need to succeed, we’re not only changing their lives but contributing to the diversification and innovation of the tech world as a whole.
The opportunity to speak at Beauty Pie was truly meaningful and enlightening. It’s moments like these that remind me why diversity and inclusion must remain a top priority in every corner of the tech industry. As we continue to break down barriers and elevate marginalized voices, I’m filled with optimism for the future — a future where inclusion is the standard, not the exception.
